Program Overview

Before MCP, every team built the same integration layer badly and none of them were compatible. This day teaches the protocol that fixed that. You start by connecting an existing server and using it, then learn the three primitives — tools the model can call, resources it can read, prompts the server exposes — and the distinction between them that most implementations get wrong. The core module is a build: an MCP server from scratch in Python, with schemas, handlers, structured errors and testing through the inspector. You finish by writing a client, wiring Claude into a real external system, and configuring it into Claude Desktop and Claude Code — with a hard look at what a server should never expose.
