Program Overview
AI is now built into the database itself. SQL Server 2025, Azure SQL Database and SQL database in Microsoft Fabric can store vector embeddings, run semantic search and call AI models such as Azure OpenAI directly from T-SQL. This official Microsoft course, DP-800T00, teaches you to design, secure, deploy and add AI to these solutions over three hands-on days. On Day 1, you build a strong foundation. You compare the SQL platforms and design tables, indexes and constraints that scale. You work with specialised tables (temporal, ledger, graph, in-memory and external), store JSON data, and partition large tables. You also write views, stored procedures, functions, triggers and advanced T-SQL, and learn to speed up development safely with GitHub Copilot and MCP servers. On Day 2, you make the database production-ready. You protect data with encryption, data masking, Row-Level Security and auditing. You tune performance using execution plans and Query Store, and resolve blocking and deadlocks. You automate deployments with SQL Database Projects and GitHub Actions, and expose your data as REST and GraphQL APIs using Data API Builder. On Day 3, you add the AI layer. You connect AI models to SQL, generate embeddings, and build keyword, vector and hybrid search. You finish by building a complete Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solution in T-SQL that answers questions from your own business data using Azure OpenAI. Every module includes a hands-on lab and a knowledge check. The course follows the three skill areas of the DP-800 exam. With the included exam voucher, practice tests and lab access, you leave ready to earn the Microsoft Certified: SQL AI Developer Associate certification.
